Chemical Dry Cleaning: This type of system is one where a "dry foam chemical"
is applied to your carpet and scrubbed into the carpet using a bonnet style scrubber. The carpet is then left to dry. In theory
the soil and dirt is supposed to adhere to the "dry chemical" which will crystallize as it dries. The soil and
crystallized chemical are then supposedly removed by the home owner while vacuuming.
Why it doesn't work: First off, the chemical which is
applied to the carpet is never fully extracted which means the soil and dirt is still in your carpet. The companies
that offer this type of service are not usually equipped with a truck mounted extractor and attempt to extract the chemical
with a wet vac if at all. This method usually leaves carpets stiff and dull with all the dirt still left in your carpet.
Chemical residue left in carpet attracts more dirt and soil and ultimately leaves your carpet worse off than before.

Portable Cleaning Systems: a portable is a cheap, inexpensive piece of equipment
that can be thrown in the back of any car or truck. Their affordable price allows any "Regular Joe" to become a
carpet cleaner overnight. A portable is also a water extraction cleaning system but lacks the power of a gasoline powered
truck mount. In short they are not much more than a glorified wet /dry vacuuming cleaner. Most often portable cleaning
systems do not have sufficient pressure, suction or heat to do a thorough job and many do not even have heat at all.
-
Why you don't want it: this type of system is seriously lacking power, suction and heat. This simply means that you won't be getting the
best cleaning possible. Portable systems can only offer a mere fraction of the power and efficiency of a professional truck
mount system.

Store Bought Foams
& Powders: This cheap alternative to a professional carpet cleaning is a truly a waste of time and
money. They make promises of cleaner carpets by simply sprinkling or spraying on their "wonder chemical". Remember,
any chemical that is applied to your carpet must be rinsed out and extracted or it's going to leave a residue that will attract
more dirt!
-
Why
it doesn't work: Simply put, the chemical and soil is never
fully removed from your carpet and ultimately will make your carpet even dirtier.
